For the second straight year, Albia Community High School has been recognized by the Iowa High School Musical Theater Awards (IHSMTA) with the following awards and honors for their November production “Hello, Dolly!”
Judges attended “Hello Dolly” last November and honored Albia performers in four different areas.
In Production Awards, “The Waiters’ Gallop” received a Distinguished Scene award.
In Performance in a Principal Role, Cole Folkerts as Cornelius Hack and Austin Stanley as Barnaby Tucker each received Special Recognition.
Ava Brown, Tayler Sample and Savannah Stalzer were honored as Showcase Performers.
A year-end Awards Showcase will be held at the Des Moines Civic Center on Monday, June 3 at 7 p.m. and will recognize a total of 77 schools from across the entire state. The Awards Showcase will be live-streamed at IPTV.org as part of a collaboration with Iowa Public Television. IPTV will air a highlights special of the evening later this summer.
IHSMTA is a year-long, signature education initiative of Des Moines Performing Arts. ACHS participation was made possible through support from the Monroe County Foundation.
