Monroe County voters should expect to receive updated voter registration cards in the mail next week ahead of the first combined City/School Election scheduled for Nov. 5, 2019.
Monroe County Auditor and Commissioner of Elections Amanda Harlan said the cards were sent to update voters on their polling locations for the newly combined City/School Election.
School and City Elections were traditionally scheduled separately in September and November of odd numbered years; however, the State Legislature recently approved new legislation which combines the two elections in November.
“It is our priority to make the transition to a combined City/School Election as seamless as possible for our voters,” Harlan said.
For the upcoming City/School Election, voters will need to use the City/School Election polling places noted on their updated registration cards. There are three polling locations for this election. Voters in Albia City, Guilford, Pleasant, Mantua, Monroe, Troy and Urbana Townships will vote at the Monroe County Courthouse, 10 Benton Avenue East, Albia. Voters in Lovilia City, Bluff Creek, Cedar and Union Townships will vote at the Lovilia Community Center, 608 West 17th Street, Lovilia, Iowa. And voters in Melrose City, Franklin, Jackson, and Wayne Townships will vote at St. Patrick’s Church, 200 Shamrock Street, Melrose, Iowa.
Voters should review the voter registration cards and keep them for their reference. If your registration card needs any updates, please visit www.monroecoia.us/electionmain.htm, complete the Voter Registration form and mail it back to the Monroe County Auditor, or call the office to get a form mailed to your residence.
