Aaron Keeton, the son of Mark and Lisa Keeton of rural Monroe County and a senior at Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont High School, will join other top Iowa high school rodeo athletes to compete as a team in the National High School Rodeo July 16-22 in Gillette, Wyo.

This is the 69th annual National High School Finals Rodeo (NHSFR). Keeton will compete in bareback riding.

He is the grandson of former professional bull-rider Dave (Liz) Larson or rural Monroe County and the nephew of the late Dan Larson, a national high school rodeo performer, collegiate rodeo athlete and professional in bareback and bull-riding. His mother, Lisa, also competed in nationals during her high school career.

The national rodeo features over 1,750 contestants from 43 states, five Canadian provinces and Australia, making it the largest rodeo in the world. This year’s national rodeo will be telecast on RFD-TV. Performance times are 7 p.m. on July 16 and 9 a.m. and 7 p.m. throughout the rest of the run.
