The Tree Maintenance Workshop held on March 13 at Lake Miami Park drew 18 people. Jeremy Cochran Iowa DNR District Forester, covered importance of selecting multiple and diverse tree species when planting new trees. Cochran demonstrated and discussed various tree maintenance techniques particularly in high risk/high traffic areas.
Cochran also demonstrated multiple techniques and tools to utilize for pruning trees properly.
The next forestry field day will be held by the Iowa Department of Natural Resources at Stephens State Forest in October 2020. Cochran and Monroe County Conservation Board Conservation Director Andy Wuebker said they look forward to hosting future events similar to this at Lake Miami Park.
