Chariton Valley Electric Cooperative (CVEC) members will have the opportunity to help others in their community through Operation Round Up beginning in January when participating members’ electric bills will be “rounded up” each month to the nearest whole dollar amount with the extra change going into a separate Operation Round Up fund.
“On average, a member will contribute around $6 per year”, said Interim General Manager Becky Teno. “It is an inexpensive and convenient way to give to charitable programs, and we are excited to see how collectively, we can change lives.”
The new Operation Round Up Board of Directors includes Steve Hoch, Angie Folkerts, Jan Stalzer, Lori Johnson, Ron Hohneke, Brady Gray, Jack Baker, Jerry Power and Mark Spragg. This board is responsible for reviewing applications and awarding contributions to worthwhile community, youth, educational and environmental programs in our service territory. “We are thrilled that these members have volunteered their time with this program. This is truly members helping members, which is the Cooperative way” Teno said.
Applications for possible projects will be available at CVEC’s office and on their website, as well as, at area Chamber offices throughout the territory beginning in January. The first set of awards will be distributed in April 2020.
