This year marks their 33rd year of raising money for pheasant and quail habitat as well as habitat for turkey, deer and other nesting birds.

With the harsh winter last year, good winter habitat and food sources are needed for the survival of pheasants and quail. This past year Cedar Creek PF provided corn, sorghum, soybean and sunflower seed to plant 261 acres of food plots on 20 projects. A total of 61 acres of native grasses were drilled or inter-seeded to provide nesting cover and pollinators. Additionally, 100 acres of CRP were burnt to improve nesting and brooding cover.

Through a partnership with Cargill and Monroe SWCD, cracked corn was provided to help feed song and game birds throughout the winter. Cedar Creek PF members helped with local hunter safety courses and Albia shooting sports teams. Pheasants Forever has their own Farm Bill Biologist, Shane Weinberg, who works out of the NRCS office to help provide federal and state habitat program signups and do habitat plans for Monroe County land owners.

All these activities are made possible due to the community support of the annual Cedar Creek PF banquet.
