On June 2 the Albia Brewing Company located in the Skean Building on the north side of the square, opened under new food service management. Brian and Barbara Lindberg will continue to own the seven-year-old restaurant-brewery, but have brought on Albia native Dara Teno and Naeem Kahn to run the restaurant

Brian will continue to be the brewmaster for the establishment.

Dara graduated with the Albia Class of 2003 and has lived in Des Moines working in the retail industry and wedding business. She recently left Maurices to take advantage of the opportunity back in Albia. She also worked the wedding scene in Des Moines and will continue her business of altering wedding dresses in Albia.

Naeem has been in the restaurant business for 24 years and joins Dara as co-manager. A native of India, he worked cruise ships for several years before joining Garden Industry (Macaroni Grill) and was chef at Rookies Sports Bar in Clive.

The restaurant’s hours of operation will increase dramatically. The restaurant will be open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday serving lunch and dinner, 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday and Sunday 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. with a breakfast brunch. There will also be carry out until midnight on Saturday.

The menu will be mixed with a full slate of burgers, plus seafood and a traditional breakfast brunch menu. “There will be a spread of many different things,” he said.

On the brewery side, Lindberg will continue to offer his large selection of pilsners, wheat beers, dark beers and specialty brews, along with craft beers and a couple of light beers.
