Autumn Denato, who serves as the Monroe County Extension County Youth Coordinator (CYC) received the 4-H staff Distinguished Service Award at the 2017 YouthFEST.

“As the veteran CYC in Region 19, Autumn is an invaluable resource for other new and seasoned CYCs in the region,” said John Paul Chaisson, Iowa 4-H Development Progream Leader. “She has been able to grow the 4-H program by offering new opportunities, and by reaching potential audiences in new ways. She maintains a good relationship with community partners, especially the Albia School District. She is a tireless advocate for the youth in Monroe County. In addition, she is a great team member in Region 19, taking the lead on the annual intermediate 4-H trip and mentoring new CYCs too.”

Denato has been County Youth Coordinator in Monroe County for six years. In that position, she works with 4-H youth and their families to help make the 4-H program strong and educational. She helps with summer day camps in Albia and organizes and carries out after school programs for early out Wednesdays that are both educational and fun. She also helps on a large scale to prepare and execute the Monroe County 4-H and FFA Fair. Denato recruits volunteers for the 4-H program and helps establish new clubs based on the needs and wants of the 4-H families in Monroe County.

Her duties also include taking the lead on organizing various day trips and camps for the youth of Monroe County as well as other counties in Region 19 including the 2017 4-H State Conference.
