King Opera House

The King Opera House will be open and operating from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. during the Victorian Stroll.

A bracelet/key chain vendor will be at the theater from 9 a.m.-9 p.m., the free children’s movie will be at 11 a.m., the regular movie at 2 p.m., the tenderloin truck in front of the building starting at 3 p.m. and the “Nutcracker” performance beginning at 8:30 p.m.

The free children’s movie, sponsored by the Victorian Stroll Committee, is “Alvin and the Chipmunks Christmas. It will start at 11 a.m. and following the movie, Santa will be up front to hand out sacks of goodies donated by the Albia Rotary Club.

At 2 p.m. the theater will show its regularly scheduled movie, what will be a new Christmas classic, “The Grinch.” Tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for children.

At 3 p.m. the Barnyard Tenderloin Express will be parked in front of the King Opera House selling fabulous tenderloins until 8:30 p.m.

During the afternoon, following the regular movie, the King Opera House board will be showing a video of the work being done at the historic theater.

At 8:30 p.m., to complete the Victorian Stroll’s Saturday activities, Shannon’s School of Dance will perform a shortened version of the Christmas classic, “The Nutcracker.”

The musical/dance production will be performed again at 2 p.m. on Sunday.
