Monroe County Master Gardener and Friends April monthly meeting will feature a speaker on Thursday, April 11, 6:30 p.m. at the Monroe County Extension Office.

Kristi Evans, a Master Gardener from Story County, and her husband have moved to Monroe County.

Evans will share her "Lilies All Summer," educational presentation.

She was introduced to lilies and joined the Iowa Regional Lily Society in 2009. She is currently the organization’s enthusiastic president. She has been an Iowa State Master Gardener with Story County for about eight years and is happy to have joined the Monroe County Master Gardener and Friends group.

In May 2018, Kristi and her husband Bernie opened up the Evans Gate Bed and Breakfast at 5738 238th Trail located southwest of Albia. They recently moved to Monroe County to fulfill their “Top Secret List'” of things they wanted to do and invite everyone to come and enjoy their little slice of heaven... bed and breakfast style.

The Monroe County Master Gardener and Friends meet the second Thursday of the month and everyone is always welcome. Come share some gardening education and fellowship with other gardeners, light refreshments will be shared.

Gardening is great activity for a healthy lifestyle, and it is fun and rewarding.

Area counties will be offering a Fall 2019 Iowa State Master Gardener Training, contact your local Extension Office for more information.
