Connie Mae Rouse (Shaw), 77, died Sept. 11, 2019 peacefully at her home, surrounded by her loved ones.
Her funeral service will be 9:30 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 21, 2019, at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.
Connie was born March 6, 1942, in Avery to Willis and Alma Shaw. Connie, always independent and courageous, took a a career path as a female computer programmer in Des Moines and Colorado, eventually settling in California. She had a great love for horses, regularly showing Carousel and Willie, her two prized Arabian Pintos. Connie suffered a stroke 11 years ago, but continued to get the most out of life, pursuing her passion for watercolor painting and spending family time with her daughter, Carrie, son-in-law Dave, grandsons Ian and Noah, and last, but not least, her dog Murphy.
Connie is preceded in death by her parents, Willis and Alma; her brothers, Raymond, Dwight, Eugene and Don Shaw.
Connie is survived by her beloved daugher Carrie Sprosty (Dave) and grandsons, Ian and Noah, as well as her sisters-in-law, Alice Shaw-Davis (Dwight) of Albia and Maryann Shaw (Don) of Joshua Tree, Calif. She is also survived by an abundance of nieces and nephews.
