Danette Jane Kosman (1974-2019)

Danette Jane Kosman, age 45, of Moravia, passed away Sunday, Oct. 20, 2019 at her home.

Danette was born on July 11, 1974, along with her twin, Dara, the daughter of Donald James Fairley and Joanna Helena Zimmerman. Donald passed away when Danette was very young. Joanna married Joseph Casey Squire Ketcham, and together, they raised their family. Danette graduated from Bloomfield High School with the Class of 1992. Following high school, she continued her education at Indian Hills to become an Administrative Assistant.

While attending school, Danette was employed through Rubbermaid Manufacturing. She worked hard throughout her lifetime, and held many part-time jobs. Danette decided to go to school to follow her passion of being a cosmetologist, and graduated from the Iowa School of Beauty in 1996. Following graduation, she began working at Country Clipper in Moravia with Candy. Danette was united in marriage to Cary Kosman on Sept. 7, 2002 in Hiteman. Together they raised three children. She also worked full time at the Pella Corporation until she purchased Country Clipper Whole Family Salon in 2006.

Danette enjoyed going boating, swimming, shopping and decorating. She loved sports, especially baseball and softball. Most importantly, Danette cherished the time she spent with her family. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Albia. Danette always had a positive spin to life, and will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Left to cherish Danette’s memory are her husband, Cary Kosman of Moravia; her children, Michael (Heather) Waybill of Centerville, Avery Waybill of Albia, and DeEtta (Brittany) Waybill of Albia, and her step daughter, Jessica (Shane) Miller of Grain Valley, Mo.; four grandchildren, Bayleigh Caraccio, Logan Caraccio, Henley Hiatt, and Blake Waybill; her siblings, Dara (James) May, Donna Jo (Bill) Elsner, Denise Fisher, Debbie Fairley, Darlene Ketcham, Dawn Ketcham, Daniel (Jeanette) Ketcham, and David (Magen) Ketcham; her in-laws, Joe (Jill) Kosman, Miranda Kosman, and Amy Kosman; and her mothers and father-in-law, Pat (Lynda) Kosman and Sandy Kosman; as well as 29 nieces and nephews.

Danette was preceded in death by her fathers, Donald Fairley and Joseph Ketcham; her mother, Joanna Ketcham; her grandparents, Sam (Helena) Zimmerman, and Pat (John) Ketcham; and a brother-in-law, Chris Kosman.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, Oct. 24, 2019 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Albia, with Father Mark Yates officiating. Burial will follow the service at Oakview Cemetery in Albia. A rosary service will take place at 4:40 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2019 at Lange Funeral Home in Moravia, with a public visitation to follow on Wednesday, with the family present from 5 to 8 p.m. Memorials may be made to Cary Kosman, to be used towards patient’s battling cancer, and may be dropped off or mailed to Lange Funeral Home and Crematory, 1900 South 18th Street, Centerville, Ia. 52544.
