In her younger years she volunteered as a leader of the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Albia since 1951. She enjoyed cooking, especially caramel Chex and bacon and eggs for her grandchildren, playing solitaire, and watching the birds visit the feeders at her house. Her real joy in life was spending time with her family and friends.
