Have you ever wondered if God could forgive your sin? Lots of people allow themselves to feel estranged from God because they erroneously think that He cannot and will not forgive them. It is a lie that satan wants people to believe. But it is not true.
Let me explain. Twenty thousand runners over 26 miles. Thirteen water stations and lots of aching tired feet. That describes the Olympic or even the famous Boston Marathon. It is some kind of challenge. But so too is our journey as Christian's. The apostle Paul even compared our life as a race, at times a very grueling one but one where the ultimate prize, Heaven, was well worth the effort.
We can sweat, endure, and be asked to persevere. We need good conditioning because running is not the thing but , rather, competing and completing it successfully.
But like the Marathon...not everyone reaches the finish line. In a real race there are many reasons for that but in the race of our lives, sin is the problem and it can pile up and hold us back. It can slow us up until we collapse. Life's course is tough enough without sin being carried around and especially uncontested sin.
What is needed is to unload it from our back. But many people do not for many reasons . God is always watching and encouraging and waiting for us at the finish line. He wants us to finish successfully. Billy Graham said that two words often drove him... finish well. It is imperative we recognize and confess our sin.
God will forgive it and not turn you away. He will enable you to turn from it and will not condemn you. He will restore you and give you His peace. He is calling you and no matter what you have done, He can forgive you if you earnestly and humbly turn to Him.
1 John 1: 8,9 says " if we say we have no sin we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness."
Is there something in your life keeping you from confessing and laying aside your sin? Aren't you ready to lay that burden down? Then do it and lighten your load. God is cheering you on and calling out to you. Confession is a sure win.
On another unrelated note today... congratulations to the Albia softball team for their thrilling return to state.
And on these dangerously hot days ahead, take some time to check on elderly neighbors and also make sure that your pets are well watered.
