The Lady Dee track team was able to get outside for the first time this spring and at home for good measure on Thursday night.
“I was really happy with the way that we performed,” said Coach Justin Long. “I saw great strides from our first indoor meet. The things we worked on in practice on Tuesday and Wednesday were executed during the meet.”
The team is still without state meet qualifier Abbey Griffin and Danica Workman, waiting to be cleared to compete after winter sports injuries.
In the field events Albia picked up two third place finishes: Ayana Thomas in the high jump (4’6”) and Haleigh McDonald in the shot put (33’2.5”).
In individual races Marrissa Terrell placed first in the 100m dash (13.87) and Hailey Jones placed fourth (15.38). In the 400m dash Becca Pistek placed second (1:12.46) and in the 800m run Sherryl Mae Rowe placed third (2:51.06).
In the 100m hurdles Brooklyn Powless was second (18.41) and Taylee Wolfer was third (19.46). In the 200m dash Ayana Thomas won (29.95) while Ellie Spurgin placed third (30.45) and Josie Moode placed sixth (34.76). In the 1500m run Brooke Smith was third (6:40.88) and Tahylor Terrell was fourth (4:48.08).
The sprint medley relay team (Lauren Bayer, Josie Moode, Lindsey Manser, and Allison Major) placed second in 2:11.91. The 4x800m team (Smith, Becca Pistek, Emma Martin, Rowe) placed second in 11:51.11.
The shuttle hurdle relay team (Manser, Wolfer, Powless, Major) won 1:18.58. The distance medley team (Wolfer, Spurgin, Becca Pistek, and Elizabeth Martin) placed second with a time of 5:05.26. The 4x200 team (Major, Sara Pistek, Brooklyn Leshen and Tahylor Terrell) won with a time of 2:00.86.
Albia had three 4x100 teams. Team one (Manser, Marrissa Terrell, Thomas, Spurgin) placed first in 56.9. Team two (Moode, Bayer, Sara Pistek, Leshen) placed fourth in 59.88. Team three (Ella Teno, McDonald, Powless, Olha Zhydyk) was fifth in 1:00.63.
The 4x400 had two entries. Team one (Pistek, Pistek, Martin, Martin) placed second in 4:56.15 and team two (Bayer, Leshen, Tahylor Terrell, Smith) placed fourth in 5:24.28.
The Lady Dees traveled to Davis County on Tuesday and Mt. Pleasant on Thursday.
