Albia A

The South Central Conference did well in terms of Class 3A All-District balloting. Albia placed three players on the South Central All-District team including Alex Beard and Jena Lawrence, both juniors and senior Kennedy Schroeder.

Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont senior Reina Taylor, Davis County senior Bailee Yahnke and Centerville sophomore Claire Mathews were also named to the unit.

Beard batted .538 with 43 RBI and nine home runs in her junior season while catching almost flawlessly. Lawrence batted .485 with 41 RBI and had an 18-5 pitching record with 132 strikeouts and an ERA of 2.49.

Schroeder batted .505, moving from the team’s clean-up spot to lead-off. She had 23 RBI and scored 40 runs.

Taylor batted .283 with 26 RBI and had a 15-9 pitching record with a 2.24 ERA. Yahnke batted .423 with 13 RBI and Mathews batted .340 with 24 RBI and 11 stolen bases.
