Albia A

The Albia High School frosh baseball team is going into the final tournament of the 2019 season with a 4-7-1 record.

On May 31 the Blue Demons were swept in a double header by Oskaloosa. Albia scored one run in the second inning, two in the third, two more in the fourth and two in the fifth while the Indians scored one run in the first inning, five in the second, and two in the fourth. Chance threw three and a third innings, giving up six runs on six hits striking out three and walking two.

Offensively for Albia Sam Shepard doubled, walked, and scored; Wyatt Sinclair walked; Justin Keller walked and scored; Chance doubled twice and scored twice; Landon Simpson singled, tripled, and scored; CJ Flattery singled; Gage Oddo walked and scored; Adam Seffield walked twice and scored; Jacob Keller singled.

The Blue Demons lost game two 5-4. Albia scored two runs in the first inning and two in the third while the Indians scored two runs in the second inning, one in the third and took the victory with two runs in the fourth. Keller threw three innings for Albia allowing three runs on three hits, striking out seven and walking six. Simpson threw one inning allowing two runs on one hit, striking out two and walking three.

Offensively Shepard singled and scored; Justin Keller singled, walked and scored; Chance singled and scored twice; Simpson doubled; Jacob Keller singled twice; Kylon Rhodes walked; and Aron Lowe singled.

On June 4 Albia traveled to Knoxville and lost 2-1 and 11-4. In the opener Albia scored one run in the second inning while Knoxville scored one in the first and one in the fifth. Justin Keller threw all five innings, allowing two runs on two hits, striking out five and walking five.

Offensively Chance doubled; Simpson singled; Beau Little reached by fielder’s choice and scored; Devin Kimball singled; Logan Heaton doubled and Gage Oddo walked.

In game two Albia scored one run in the second inning, two in the third, and one in the fourth while the Panthers scored one run in the second inning, four in the fourth and six in the fifth. Chance threw four innings allowing five runs on three hits striking out five and walking seven. Simpson threw one inning allowing six runs on five hits striking out none and walking one.

Offensively Shepard walked and scored; Chance singled and scored; Eli Smith doubled; Justin Keller reached by error and scored; Oddo walked and scored; Chaz Fee singled twice; Nicholas Zavala singled.

On June 11 in Albia the Blue Demons defeated 5-0 to Centerville and tied Davis County 4-4. During the Big Red Game Albia scored one run in the first, two in the third and two in the fourth. Chance threw four innings, allowing no runs on one hit striking out 11 and walking one. Simpson threw one inning allowing no runs on no hits, striking out three and walking two.

Offensively Shepard was hit by pitch, doubled and scored twice; Wyatt Sinclair walked and scored; Chance doubled and scored; Jacob Keller singled and scored; Oddo walked twice; Sheffield walked and Kimball walked.

In the Davis County game Albia scored one run in the second inning, and three in the fourth while the Mustangs scored two in the second, one in the third, and one in the fifth. Justin Keller threw four innings allowing three runs on two hits, striking out one and walking four. Shepard threw one inning allowing one run on one hit and striking out one.

On offense Shepard singled twice; Sinclair singled and walked; Justin Keller singled twice and scored twice; Flattery singled and scored; and Rhodes walked.

On June 13 in Knoxville Albia lost 5-1 and 10-5. In the first game Albia scored once in the fourth inning while Knoxville scored one in the first, three in the second, and one in the fourth. Shepard threw four innings, allowing five runs on two hits, striking out four, walking six and hitting two. Sinclair threw one inning allowing no runs on no hits, striking out one and walking two.

Offensively Shepard singled and scored; and Kimball walked.

In game two Albia led off with four runs in the first inning and added one in the fifth, while the Panthers scored one in the first, five in the second, and four in the fourth. Simpson threw four innings allowing 10 runs on five hits striking out five and walking four. Sinclair threw one inning allowing no runs on no hits walking two and striking out one.

Offensively, Shepard singled and scored; Sinclair reached by error and scored; Simpson singled twice and scored twice; Chance doubled twice; Jacob Keller singled and scored; Sheffield singled; Oddo singled.

On June 14 Albia split with Chariton winning the opener 11-3 and losing the second game 10-6. In game one Albia scored six runs in the first inning, two in the second and three in the fourth while the Chargers scored all three runs in the second inning. Chance threw all four innings allowing three runs on two hits, striking out six and walking four.

Offensively, Shepard singled, hit by pitch and scored twice; Sinclair singled and scored; Simpson was hit by pitch and scored; Chance tripled, singled and scored twice; Flattery reached by error, singled and scored twice; Sheffield hit by pitch and scored; and Lowe singled and hit by pitch.

In Game two Albia scored four in the second and two in the third while Chariton scored one in the first, five in the second, and four in the third. Justin Keller threw three innings allowing 10 runs on four hits striking out three and walking 11.

Offensively Simpson singled and scored; Justin Keller singled and scored; Chance tripled.

On June 25 the Blue Demons traveled to Chariton to play the Chargers and Knoxville in a tournament. In the first game Albia defeated Chariton 6-5. Justin Keller threw five innings allowing five runs on six hits striking out four walking two and hitting one batter.

On offense Shepard singled and scored; Oddo walked and tripled and scored twice; Simpson singled; Chance singled twice; Sheffield reached by error and scored; Zavala walked, hit by pitch and scored twice.

In the Knoxville game, the Blue Demons scored once in the second inning, twice in the third and twice in the fourth while the Panthers scored once in the first inning and once in the fifth. Chance threw all five innings allowing two runs on one hit striking out six, walking four and hitting three batters.

Offensively Shepard walked; Oddo walked and scored; Simpson singled twice, walked and scored twice; Chance doubled twice and scored; Justin Keller walked twice; Flattery walked; Sinclair walked; and Sheffield singled.

The Blue Demon frosh will end the regular season with a tournament in Eddyville on Friday July 5.
