The Lady Dee softball team recorded their fifth win of the season by defeating Pella Christian 4-3 in dramatic fashion on Tuesday night in Albia. “It wasn’t exactly pretty but the point is to come out one run ahead and we did,’ said Coach Larry Achenbach.

Pella Christian took a 2-0 lead in the second inning scoring on a pair of doubles and an RBI single. Albia tied the game in the third as Hannah Isley and Makenna Ross each singled and Alex Beard doubled them across the plate.

The Lady Eagles scored again in the fifth on two singles and an error. Going into bottom of the seventh down 3-2, the Lady Dees had Erin Heaton reach by error and Isley reach as the Lady Eagles misplayed her sacrifice bunt putting runners at second and third. Alex Beard singled them both home to end the game.

Jena Lawrence recorded the win going seven innings, allowing three runs on seven hits, striking out 10 and walking one.

Albia moves to 5-2 and will play in Knoxville on Friday and will participate in the Oskaloosa Tournament on Saturday and travel to Chariton on Monday.
