The Albia Lady Dees brought the hot bats on Thursday night taking two from Mt. Pleasant at the Monroe County Sports Complex.

Albia finished the opener in five innings scoring 11 in the first three at bats while the Lady Panthers managed one run in the fourth. In the first inning Abbey Griffin walked only to be caught stealing, Alex Beard reached on an error followed by a walk to Kennedy Schroeder. Jena Lawrence singled one run across followed by Rylee Leshen tripling for two more runs. Abby Martin walked and Meghan Jones ripped an RBI single.

In the second inning Griffin reached when hit by a pitch and stole second, Beard singled scoring Griffin, Schroeder walked, Lawrence had an RBI double, and Leshen reached by error which scored Schroeder. Martin took an 0-1 count deep for a two-run homer to end the scoring. Beard hit a line drive over the fence with one out in the third to make it 11-0. Mt. Pleasant scored on a single, stolen base and an error in the fourth.

Sophomore Mackenna Jones went the five innings in the circle for Albia allowing one run on four hits, striking out eight and walking two.

Albia scored early in the second game with two runs in the first as Makenna Ross singled. Beard singled Ross across the plate and Lawrence followed with an RBI single as well. In the third Griffin singled, Beard walked, Schroeder reached by fielder’s choice which scored Griffin. In the fourth Martin singled as did Ellie Spurgin and Martin scored when Danica Workman reached by error.

Meanwhile Lawrence kept Mt. Pleasant in check throughout the seven innings allowing no runs on five hits striking out nine and walking three.

The SCC game at Davis County was postponed and the Lady Dees played at the Williamsburg Tournament on Saturday.
