The Albia Lady Dees ran to a 4th place team finish at the SCC cross Country meet at East Lake Park, Osceola. Sherryl Mae Rowe was able to finish the course in 4th place, just one second out of third with a time of 22:40. “I am very happy for Sherryl Mae,” said Coach Todd Ratliff. “She just missed all conference last season and raced a smart race tonight.”
Davis County, ranked fifth in 2A, would win the team title with 28 points, Chariton 55, Knoxville 87, Albia 91, E-B-F fifth. Centerville and Clarke would round out the team competition.
Becca Pistek would run to an Honorable Mention All Conference finish in a time of 24:59 in 20th place with Albia’s next four runners packing up to finish 26th, 27th, 29th, and 30th.
Allison Major would run a time of 25:50 with Brooke Smith finishing in 26:01. Ellie Martin and Ava Brown would race together and finish in times of 26:24 and 26:29. Emma Martin would round out the top seven on the evening with a placing of 36th in a time of 27:02
Ericka Archibald and Sara Pistek would race through the finish line together. Senior, Pistek would edge Archibald as they leaned at the tape in identical time of 27:18. Lauren Bayer and Taylee Wolfer would also remain together throughout the race with Bayer finishing 51st in a time of 29:16 with Wolfer finishing in 52nd a time of 29:19.
“These girls came in tonight understanding their goal of leaving it all out there tonight,” said Coach Ratliff. “They did just that. I am proud of what they accomplished tonight as well as what they have accomplished all season.”
The Lady Dees run their record to 73-31. They will run on Oct. 24 in Panora at the state qualifying meet.
