Top professional golfers from Iowa and the Midwest will be in Albia this weekend to compete in the 46th annual Albia Pro-Am Golf Tournament. Two dozen pros will be teamed up in foursomes with 72 local amateurs in the state’s longest continual nine-hole pro-am tournament.

The tournament begins Friday at 5:30 p.m. with the pro-shootout (a five-hole elimination competition), followed by the Calcutta at 7:30 p.m.

On Saturday golfing begins at 7:30 p.m. with Josh Manske back to defending his professional title from a year ago. Former champions, Sean McCarty, Justin Herron and Darren Fisher will also be in the field.

Joe Bates of Albia is back to defend his amateur title against the likes of former champions Kevin Pickerell and Mike Duea.

Sunday’s competition begins at 7:30 a.m. The tournament ends between 4 and 5 p.m. Sunday. Fans are welcome throughout the weekend, with the clubhouse offering food off the grill all day Saturday and a catered meal from Jim & Charlies on Saturday night. The band “One Eye Open” will perform Saturday night. Everyone is welcome.
