The Albia boys’ track team qualified five events for the Iowa High School State Track meet on Friday in Eddyville.
The open 400 will have both Logan Stalzer and Nick Heffron running while the 4x400 team of Nathan Crall, Beau Leshen, Heffron and Stalzer along with alternates Gage Wilson and Wade Myers, also will be heading for Des Moines.
The sprint medley team of Drew Winke, Crall, Leshen, Stalzer, Wilson, and Heffron will also run at state. The 4x100 team of Winke, Crall, Leshen, Stalzer, Willson and Wade Myers turned in a time that will put them on the road to the state track meet.
The district team results had Williamsburg winning with 123.5 points with Davis County placing second with 96 points followed by Mediapolis (90), PCM (86), Albia (86), Pella Christian (73), Mid-Prairie (65), Chariton (51), Danville (32), EBF (19.5), Van Buren (10), and Central Lee (7).
Those scoring in the open events for Albia were Drew Winke fifth in the 100m dash (11.78); Stalzer and Heffron in the 400m dash (51.71) and (52.88) respectively; Nathan Parks fourth in the 800m run (2:07.75); Brock Ratliff third in the 1600m run (4:49.47);Cody Dalman seventh in the 1600m run (4:59.49); Carter Anderson sixth in the 110m hurdles (18.00); and Winke fourth in the 400m hurdles (59.84).
The relays went as follows: 4x100 team of Winke, Crall, Leshen, Stalzer finished second (44.54); the 4x200 team of Wade Myers, Gage Wilson, Leshen, Crall placed fifth (1:33.62); the 4x400 team won with a time of 3:29.84; the 4x800 team of Dalman, Max Teno, Eli Smith, Gavin McMurry placed seventh; the sprint medley team placed fifth in 1:37.21,and the shuttle hurdle relay team of Doug Flattery, Nathen Wilson, C.J. Ratliff, Anderson placed third in 1:13.57.
In the field events Gage Wilson took third in the long jump (20’03”) and Zach DeMoss placed seventh (17’06”); and Nathen Wilson placed fifth in the high jump (5’06”).
