The Blue Demon baseball team scored in the final at bat to defeat Clarke County 12-11 on Friday night in Albia.

The Clarke Indians jumped to an early lead scoring three runs in the top of the first and added two runs in the second. Albia scored in the second inning and added two more runs in the third.

In the fifth the Blue Demons exploded for eight runs fueled by a three run double by Austin Brand to take an 11-5 advantage. Clarke County responded in the top of the sixth with six runs to tie the game 11-11. After holding the Indians scoreless in the top of the seventh Albia scored in walk off fashion.

Offensively Gage Wilson scored and had on RBI; Nathen Crall had two hits, scored and had one RBI; Luke Bossard doubled, singled, walked twice, scored twice and had one RBI; Nathan Wynn had three hits and scored; Austin Brand doubled, singled, scored, and had four RBI; Jaden Hugen had two hits, scored, walked and had one RBI; Logan Spaur reached by fielder’s choice and scored; Hunter DeMoss singled and had two RBI; Jameson Robertson doubled, scored, walked twice, and had one RBI; Barrett Bonnett scored; and Chaz Fee scored twice.

Wilson was the winning pitcher going two innings allowing two runs on two hits striking out two and walking one. Edison Goodlow was the starter going five innings allowing five runs on seven hits striking out six and walking four. Nathan Wynn was also in relief allowing four runs on no hits walking one.

Albia improves to 2-8 on the season and 2-6 in the SCC. They faced EBF in Eddyville on Monday night.
