The Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont baseball team is close to clinching a runner-up spot in the South Central Conference with a 4-3 victory over a vastly improving Clarke squad. The wins boosted the Rockets to 13-5 in SCC play, two full games ahead of Davis County.
Wyatt Klyn went six and a third inning, giving up one hit and striking out 10 while walking four.
Klyn had some control problems early giving up a first inning run, but settled down to toss three shutout innings. Clarke tied the game in the fifth with two runs after EBF had scored a run in the fourth and two in the fifth. The Rockets got the winning run in the top of the seventh, then Thane Alexander came on to pitch the final two outs to get the save.
Trey Moore stroked a two-run double and Jaden Herr had an RBI double. DJ Stout had a single as did Nolan Stetter. Both scored runs for the Rockets.
The Rockets moved to 17-9 on the season with a 10-0 five-inning win over Lynnville-Sully. Adam LaRue pitched a three-hit shutout with two walks and three strikeouts.
Jared McCrea had three hits, including a double and four RBI. Wyatt Klyn had two hits including a double and two RBI, Kendal Durst had three hits and scored three runs, Jaden Herr had an RBI single and DJ Stout had two hits and scored twice.
