The Albia Lady Dees split at the Oskaloosa Invitational Tournament on Saturday.

Albia opened the day with a 12-0 win over Liberty High School of Iowa City. The Lady Dees scored 11 runs in the third inning and one in the fourth while holding the Lightening scoreless.

MacKenna Jones recorded the win going the four innings allowing no runs on two hits striking out six and walking two.

Offensively Abbey Griffin homered twice, walked, had five RBI and scored three runs; Makenna Ross doubled and singled; Alex Beard singled, doubled and homered, and had two RBI; Kennedy Schroder reached by fielder’s choice and scored; Jena Lawrence singled, scored and had one RBI; MacKenna Jones singled; Rylee Leshen singled; Abbie Martin walked and scored; Stacie Etcher walked; Taylor Colwell walked scored and had an RBI; Danica Workman scored; Ellie Spurgin scored; Taylee Wolfer scored; Lauren Bayer walked; and Allison Major scored.

In the second game of the day Albia dropped a nail biter to Newton who scored twice in the bottom of the seventh to win 6-5. The Cardinals scored three runs in the first inning only to have Albia score once in the second and twice in the third to tie the game. The Lady Dees went up 4-3 in the top of the fourth but Newton tied the game in the bottom half. Albia managed a run in the top of the seventh only to have the Cardinals put together singles and a two run double to win the game.

Jones homered and drove in two runs, Schroeder doubled and singled to drive in a run, Ross had two hits and an RBI, Griffin doubled, Martin singled and scored twice and Lawrence singled.

Lawrence took the loss going all seven innings allowing six runs, three that were earned, while striking out six and walking two.

Albia came out of the tournament 7-3 on the season and played Chariton Monday night in Chariton, returning home with a 7-1 SCC victory, boosting their record to 8-3.
