Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont’s baseball team streaked to its sixth straight victory, sweeping Chariton in a doubleheader. The team is 13-6 on the season.
The Rockets topped Chariton last Thursday 12-1 behind the four-hit pitching of Adam LaRue. He gave up a walk and struck out two.
The Rockets scored one in the second, two in the third and three in the fourth before ending the game in the fifth with six runs. Jared McCrea had three hits and an RBI, Wyatt Klyn had two hits, including a double and two RBI, Nolan Stetter had two hits and two RBI and Logan McCrea had an RBI double to lead the team offensively.
EBF beat Knoxville 11-5 with Klyn taking the win on the mound in three innings of work. He gave up two hits, walked six and struck out four. The Rockets had a 5-3 lead when he was lifted for Austin Johnson who went two. Trey Moore got the save in two innings of relief.
The Rockets pounded out eight hits. Zach Leonard had a bases loaded double to drive in three. Austin Johnson had a two-run single, Stetter had a two-run double and Moore had an RBI double. Jared McCrea had two hits.
EBF swept a conference doubleheader on Monday against Chariton, winning 11-7 and 5-1.
Logan McCrea went three and two-thirds in the 11-7 win to get the mound victory. Austin Johnson and Adam LaRue pitched in relief. The Rockets owned an 8-0 lead at the end of two before Chariton rallied with five runs, but EBF scored three in the sixth to put the game out of reach.
Stetter cracked two hits including a double and had three RBI. Moore also had two hits and three RBI. DJ Stout and Jared McCrea also had two hits.
Jared McCrea got the win in the 5-1 game. He pitched six innings, giving up one hit and one run with five walks and five strikeouts. Moore got the save throwing the seventh.
