Albia junior Blake Chance and Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont senior Kalen Walker were named to the Class 2A All Substate #6 team. Joining them on the team were Jackson Curnutte, Chariton, Bryce Achenbach, Woodward-Granger, Anthony Potthoff, Van Meter, Chris Schrech, Van Meter, Brady Berkley, Colfax-Mingo.
Kieren Nichols of Knoxville was named to the Class 3A Substate #6 team.
Chance led Albia to the substate finals against Woodward-Granger. He scored 14 points, had nine rebounds and 12 assists in Albia’s win over Van Buren, had 19 points, 10 rebounds and nine assists in the win over EBF and had eight points, seven rebounds and five assists in the loss to W-G.
Chance had a season average of 13.7 points, 7.7 assists, 6.1 rebounds and 32 steals.
Walker had eight points, three rebounds, seven assists and three steals in the Rockets win over Chariton, but even more impressive, held Jackson Churnutte to no points in the final three quarters of the game. Against Albia he had 10 points, two assists and two steals. On the season he averaged 11.8 points, just over five assists, 2.7 rebounds and had 58 steals on the year.
