Because of COVID-19 Albia Homecoming will look a bit different, but will still be filled with the traditional fun and excitement of traditional homecoming.

ACHS Student Council has created daily virtual activities for the student body to participate in. Activities include QR Codes and Kahoot allowing students to test their Blue Pride knowledge. Points will be awarded to each class throughout the week as they compete for the Spirit Stick.

Class Floats:

Each high school class will decorate a float off campus throughout the week. Floats will be placed on the square at noon on Friday, Sept. 25 for judging. Floats will also be displayed at halftime of the football game.

Elementary Posters:

Lincoln Elementary students will be decorating posters to display in the high school building throughout the week and to display at the football game.

Wednesday Hall Decorating:

Each high school class will have the opportunity to decorate a designated hallway between 2:30 and 4:30 on Wednesday, Sept. 23.

Thursday Night Activities: (Fairgrounds)

Albia High School Student Council and the After Prom Committee have joined forces to provide a drive-in movie theater for all Albia High School students on Thursday, Sept. 24 sponsored by the After Prom Committee. The Homecoming Court along with King and Queen will be announced at 7:45 p.m. with the movie beginning around 8 p.m. Free will donations will be accepted to help offset costs. Students are encouraged to decorate their cars, to display Blue Pride Spirit, and to highlight the theme...We are all in this together!

Friday Assembly:

Weather permitting, the Homecoming Assembly will take place on the Courthouse lawn on Friday, Sept. 25 beginning at 1 p.m. The Homecoming Court and Wall of Fame inductees will be honored at this assembly. Family and community members are welcome to attend. Seating will be provided to allow for social distancing, along with the option for attendees to provide their own seats. 7-12 students will watch the assembly via a live stream into classrooms provided by KIIC and will be dismissed at the conclusion of the assembly. The assembly will be moved to the A Gym if the weather becomes an issue.

Reverse Parade:

Following the assembly on the square (approximately 1:40) students and community are welcomed to drive around the square in order to see and congratulate Wall of Fame Inductees, the Homecoming Court, and the ACHS Band! All school busses will take this route to provide all bus riders with the same opportunity. Please note that Highway 5 will not be closed for this event and that traffic patterns will continue as usual. Anyone participating in the reverse parade is encouraged to enter the square heading west on the northeast corner next to First Iowa State Bank.

* If weather becomes an issue we will move the assembly to the A Gym and will not have the Reverse Parade.

Friday Night Game:

Attendance will continue to be limited to meet health and safety guidelines. Entrance vouchers will be distributed to the high school student body, game participants (football players, band, cheerleaders, color guard, and dance), Wall of Fame Inductees, and the Homecoming Court. These entrance vouchers may be distributed at their discretion.

Wall of Fame Inductees and the Homecoming Court will be recognized at halftime of the football game. ACHS class floats will also be displayed.
