Memorial Day

Memorial Day services have been announced for Albia and Lovilia.

Weather permitting, the Lovilia American Legion will hold services at St. Peter’s Cemetery at 10 a.m. and at Woodlawn Cemetery at 10:45 a.m.

In Albia, the American Legion will be doing drive-bys at Monroe Care Center and Oakwood Specialty Care that will include a 21-gun salute at each site starting at 10 a.m.

At 11 a.m. Legionnaires will be at the Welcome Home Soldier monument to do another 21-gun salute. According to Legion Commander Gary Dustin, there will be no speaker, but people will be able to mill around and walk the WHS trails.
