Phyllis Marlene Conner, age 83, of Albia, passed away on Saturday, Oct. 10, 2020, at the Monroe County Hospital in Albia.
Phyllis was born on March 23, 1937, to Thomas James and Lorena (Hunt) Morgan. She grew up and attended school in Albia. In June of 1954, she married Donald Conner and to this union four children were born, Danny, Cindy, Kim, and Gary. Phyllis and Don shared 35 years of marriage prior to his passing in 1989.
Phyllis was a homemaker and a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and companion. She was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church. Her family was everything to her and she cherished the time spent with them, especially her grandchildren. She loved her two pet cats, music, reading, and camping. She was an excellent cook who was known for her homemade noodles and brownies.
Phyllis is survived by her significant other of 25 years, Ray Mosburger of Albia; a son, Danny Conner of Lovilia; two daughters, Cindy (Tom) Welsh of Hamilton and Kim (Dave) Stewart of Lovilia; six grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Phyllis is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and good friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Conner; her parents, Thomas and Lorena Morgan; a son, Gary Conner in infancy; and several brothers and sisters.
Visitation was held from 9 to 11 a.m, Tuesday, Oct. 13, 2020, at the Tharp Funeral Home in Albia, with Phyllis’s family present to greet family and friends. According to the rules put in place by the Iowa Department of Public Health, proper social distancing and reasonable personal protective equipment is advised for attending a religious public event.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, Oct. 13, 2020, at the Tharp Funeral Home in Albia, with Pastor Richard Grimes officiating. Burial followed services at Woodlawn Cemetery in Lovilia.
A memorial has been established to the American Diabetes Foundation.
