Janice Marie McDonough, age 60, of Moravia, passed away Sunday, July 28, 2019 at Mercy Hospice-Johnston in Johnston.
Janice was born on Jan. 11, 1959 in Centerville, the daughter of DeWayne Othello Robinson and Edra Mae (Laws) Robinson. On Sept. 20, 2003, she was united in marriage to David Michael McDonough.
Janice worked for the United States Postal Service for many years. She worked at Melrose, Unionville, Iowa and most recently, the Moravia Post Office. She started as a clerk and retired in 2018 as the Moravia Postmaster. Upon retirement, she stated “I’m going to do whatever I want, whenever I want,” when asked what she will do next.
Janice performed at the Annual Hee-Haw Show in Unionville as Baby Jane Snodgrass. In terms of hobbies, whatever her husband Dave was doing, she wanted to join in. She loved her friends and family dearly and loved spending time with them. She was known as “Central Station” for information for her family and friends. She enjoyed going to the races, and going to her “lake house.”
Left to honor Janice’s memory are her husband, Dave McDonough; her aunts, Reverta Stewart and Deena Lee Hoffman; a brother, Donnie (Connie) Robinson; three sisters, Pam Huff, Bonnie Robinson, and Tammy (Bill) Robinson; her in-laws, Barb Perkins, Ron McDonough, Jim (Letha) McDonough, Diane (Gary) Chidester, and Joe (Deena) McDonough; as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Janice was preceded in death by her parents, DeWayne and Edra Robinson; brothers, Craig Robinson and Edward “Butch” Robinson; paternal grandparents, Edward and Francis Robinson; maternal grandparents, Charlie and Ola Laws; and a brother-in-law, Tary Huff.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, Aug. 1, 2019 at Lange Funeral Home in Moravia, with Pastor Terry Chapman officiating. Burial will follow the service at Hillcrest Cemetery in Moravia. A visitation will take place Wednesday, July 31, 2019 at Lange Funeral Home in Moravia from 10 a.m.-8 p.m., with the family greeting friends from 6-8 p.m. Memorials have been established to Mercy Hospice-Johnston, and may be dropped off or mailed to Lange Funeral Home and Crematory, 1900 South 18th Street, Centerville, Iowa 52544.
