Paul G. Beronich, 100, of West Des Moines, died Friday, Oct. 1, 2021, at his residence.

He was born, Oct. 1, 1921, in Eileen Township, Bayfield County, Wisconsin, to Jacob and Manda (Sulentich) Beronich. He moved to Batavia, IL, after attending high school in Drummond, WI. He met his wife, Grace Keppler in Batavia. They were married Nov. 15, 1942. She died March 26, 2017.

He was a World War II Army veteran. After the war he settled in Batavia, IL, where he owned and operated Paul’s Garage. Later he worked for Denver Chicago Trucking Company in Chicago as a truck driver, retiring in 1982 from the Teamster’s Union. He moved to Ottumwa, IA, in 1967 to farm. He retired to Clinton, Ark., and later moved back to Iowa, living in Albia and Des Moines. Paul enjoyed woodworking, gardening and reading.

He is survived by his three daughters, Dorothy Throckmorton of Ottumwa; Elizabeth Beronich-Solomon of Point Arena, CA; and Carol Beronich-Kipper of Des Moines; 11 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife;. two grandchildren; one great-grandchild; three brothers, Emil, George and Tony Beronich; and three sisters, Ann Lingvai, Mary Palmer, and Rose Kauppi.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Friday at Raccoon River Park Nature Lodge, 2500 Grand Ave., West Des Moines. Visitation will be 5:30 to 7:30 at Henderson Highland Park Funeral Home, with family present.
