Donna Jean Thompson

Donna Jean Thompson, age 79, of Albia, IA, passed away on Sunday, August 14, 2022, at the Monroe County Hospital in Albia.

    Donna was born on July 28, 1943, in Washington Township, Van Buren County to Emmett and Ruth (Pratt) Clark.  She grew up attending school and graduated from Stockport High School with the class of 1961.  On June 23, 1962, she was united in marriage with Paul Thompson at the United Methodist Church in Stockport and to this union, 3 children, Mike, Scott, and Melissa, were born.   


    Donna was a medical administrative assistant at the University of Iowa, the University of Richmond and later the University of California/Davis.  She was a talented seamstress who also enjoyed crocheting and needle point.  She loved reading novels, putting puzzles together, and visiting with her friends.  Donna’s grandchildren were her true joy in life.  She enjoyed watching their sporting, band, and chorus events and cherished all of the time spent with them.   

    Donna is survived by her husband, Paul of Albia; 2 sons, Mike (Julie) Thompson of Albia and Scott (Dr. Elizabeth McCurdy) Thompson of Ankeny; 7 grandchildren, Kyle, Doug, Jay, Anna, Alex, Megan, and Xavier; 2 great grandchildren, Hannah and Maeleigh; a brother, Donald (Marsha) Clark of Arizona; and a sister-in-law, Jean Clark of Linwood, KS.  Donna is also survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins, and good friends.    


    Donna was preceded in death by her parents, Emmett and Ruth Clark; a daughter, Melissa Thompson; a sister, Mamie Perkovich; and a brother, Earl “Wayne” Clark.


    Per Donna’s wishes, her body has been cremated and a private family burial will be held at Oak Hill Cemetery in Williamsburg at a later date.
