Sabrina Luann Hopkins, age 57, of Albia, passed away on Tuesday, January 12, 2021, at the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City, IA.
Sabrina was born on January 30, 1963, to Jackie Sr. and Shirley (Coatney) Fry at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Centerville, IA. She grew up attending school in Albia and graduated from the Albia High School. In 1980, she was united in marriage to Roger Hopkins and to this union 3 daughters, Tina, Melissa, and Stephanie were born. Sabrina and Roger later divorced.
Sabrina worked as a waitress at several places, including the Blue Bird Café, Fry’s Café, and the Albia Café, and also worked at Hardees. She later worked for the Moravia School District as a Teacher’s Associate and also detailed cars. She was member of the Eagles. She loved being outdoors, camping, and boating and enjoyed cross-stitching. Above all, she cherished the time spent with her family and friends.
Sabrina is survived by her 2 daughters, Tina (Ryan) Vosberg and Melissa (Tim) Dennison; 3 grandchildren, Stacy Hopkins, Keirah Talbert, and Xander Talbert; 2 great grandchildren, Adalynn and Sylah; her mother, Shirley Fry; and her brother, Buck (Mary Pat) Fry.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Stephanie Hopkins; her father, Jackie Fry Sr.; and her brother, Jackie Fry Jr.
Visitation will be held from 3:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 17, 2021, at the Tharp Funeral Home in Albia, with Sabrina’s family present from 5:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. to greet family and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, January 18, 2021, at the Tharp Funeral Home in Albia, with Crystal James officiating. Burial will follow services at Haines Cemetery in Centerville. Due to the most recent proclamation and enhanced public health measures for the state of Iowa, masks will be mandatory for those in attendance over the age of 2 for both visitation and the funeral service. The service will be livestreamed on the Tharp Funeral Home Facebook page.
