Marjorie (Sandifer) Ewall, age 85, passed away on Friday, May 9, 2020, at her home in Fort Collins, Colo. Her daughter, Betsy, was at home with her.
Marjorie was born on Oct. 2, 1934, to C.R. and Marjorie (Thomson) Sandifer in Norman, Okla. The family relocated to Monroe County when Marjorie was eight. She graduated Iowa State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Home Economics and Journalism. In 1956, she married Tom Ewall. They had two children, Tom and Betsy. Tom, a Vietnam veteran, was a Navy fighter pilot who died in the line of duty in 1967. Following Tom’s death, Marjorie relocated to San Diego, Calif., where she earned a Master’s Degree in Social Services.
Later, Marjorie moved back to Monroe County to care for her mother and owned and operated The Carriage Light Inn in Albia. She and her mother moved to Dallas, Texas in 1984. There she earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting. She worked as a CPA for Trammel Crow Company in Dallas and later transferred to Philadelphia and Monterey. In 1998, she joined her brother Bob’s business, TexAmerican Marketing, in Dallas where she was the Company’s CPA. In 2015, she retired and relocated to be with her children in Colorado.
Marjorie was a voracious reader and great cook. She loved to be around her family and would spend time visiting her siblings, nieces, and nephews regularly.
Left to honor Marjorie’s memories are her son Tom; daughter Betsy; sister Janet (Muhm); brother Bob (Sandifer); and several loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
There will be a memorial service scheduled in Monroe County at a later date.
