Patricia Ann Datin (1937-2021)

Patricia Ann Datin, age 83, of Albia, Iowa, passed away on Sunday, February 14, 2021 at her home in Albia, Iowa.

     Patricia was born July 2, 1937 to Carl and Armenta (Owens) Zotz in Rock Island, IL.  She graduated from the Albia High School with the class of 1956.  On February 4, 1956, Pat was united in marriage to Paul Kauzlarich in Albia, Iowa, and to this union six children were born, Elizabeth, Paul Jr., Theresa, Diana, Christopher, and Brenda.  They later divorced.  Patricia was married to James Datin on September 4, 1984 in Missouri.  James preceded her in death on May 2, 2012.  

    Patricia was a stay at home mom till Brenda started school.  She was very dedicated to her two sons that were hemophilias.  She worked for the Iowa Department of Human Services until her retirement.  She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Albia.  She enjoyed her flowers and gardening.  She also liked having her family and friends over for a card game and coffee.  

    Patricia is survived by her children, Elizabeth Chambers of Oskaloosa, Theresa (Joe Pearson) Barker of Albia, Diana Kurimski of Newton, Brenda (Randy) Newman of Albia; 8 grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren; siblings, Marilyn Fulton of Iowa City, Janet Summers of Albia, and Michael (Donna) Zotz of Afton. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and special friend, Steve Strosko.  She was preceded in death by her husband, James Datin; parents, Carl and Armenta Zotz; two sons, Paul Jr. and Chris Kauzlarich; brother, Carl Zotz; sisters, Alice Davis and Mary Zotz, and a granddaughter, Jenny Hindman.    

      A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, February 19, 2021 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Father Mark Yates C.PP.S. officiating.  Interment will follow in Oak View Cemetery in Albia.  Visitation will also be on Friday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church from 11:00 - 1:00 p.m.  Mask are required at the visitation and service.  Memorials may be directed to the National Hemophilia Association.  Online condolences may be left for the family at sinnottfuneralhome.com.
