Trust is a valuable commodity these days. The reason is because it seems to be in such short supply. Selfish ambition, greed, and a look out for number one mentality are just three common reasons for that. But in an era where there is so little trust, we can trust God.
First we can trust Him because He is the one true God. There is no other like Him. 2 Samuel 7:21-22. He is the same yesterday, today, and forever. Hebrews 13:8. His perfect will is changeless. We do not have to worry about fluctuating ethics, opinions or values.
Secondly, God is the essence of truth. He does not have to stand under some authority of some cosmic type list of right or wrong. He is the one standard of comparison. And because He is truth, He will not ever deceive us. His promises are true to the uttermost.
Thirdly, we can trust Him because over and over again we can prove Him to be absolutely faithful. The Bible says “the loving kindnesses of the Lord indeed never cease, for His compassions never fail. They are new every morning, great is His faithfulness.” Lamentations 3:22-23.
Finally, God is trustworthy because He has absolute control of every situation. Psalm 103, one of my favorites, says “the Lord has established His throne in the heavens and His sovereignty rules over all.”
Nothing can keep God from coming through on His word, no matter how tough or challenging things look. Our very lives testify to His power and love on our behalf. When we are truly God’s children through a saving faith in Jesus Christ, we can safely and confidently put our faith and trust in Him knowing that in our lives and those we care about and pray for and love, we will never be disappointed.
