From the moment the lights dimmed, the music started, and the curtain opened, The Little Mermaid, Jr. production held at the King Opera House this past weekend was stellar! On behalf of the King Opera House board, I take this opportunity to publicly thank the directors, students, parents, and administration from the Albia Community School District for collaborating with the theater to bring this production to life on the stage of the King. The KOH board understands that in some respects it would have been easier for the musical to be held in the gymnasium. We appreciated this opportunity to partner with the school to showcase our students and their amazing talent in our venue.
When a production is done well, it draws the audience in and captures their full attention. The cast and crew of The Little Mermaid, Jr. delivered across the board! Kudos to the directors of the production for creating the vision and inspiring students to bring the vignettes to life. The fun and lighthearted content of each scene kept the musical moving, there was never a lull, and the production was a constant stream of amusement. Students can certainly be proud of their efforts and the large audiences throughout the weekend are a real testament that our community supports our students and supports the arts! It was rewarding to see patrons smiling after the performance and to hear them talking about how much they enjoyed the musical and being in the theater.
In sum, as members of the KOH board, it was our pleasure to host the musical, to work behind the scenes to help get The Little Mermaid, Jr. ready for performance, and to be part of the experience throughout. Congratulations to all on an outstanding production! Bravo! Bravo!
