The Albia boys golf team struggled in the South Central Conference golf tournament held at Edmunson Golf Course in Oskaloosa. Knoxville won the meet shooting a 309 with Clarke second at 337. Albia and Davis County were at 338 with Chariton shooting 354, Centerville 364 and Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont 407.

“We had a really rough day at the Edmunson golf course,” said Coach Marty Hermsen. "We just seemed to struggle at different times off the tee or our chipping and putting was not very good at times. We need to regroup and focus our attention on the next round of golf for Class 2A Sectionals at PCM on Wednesday.”

Evan Smith of Knoxville was meet medalist with a 73 followed by Austin Gonseth of Clarke with a 74, Kail Arema, Knoxville, 76, Connor Fisher, Albia, 79, Easton White, Davis County, 79 and Carsen Uitermarkt, Knoxville, 79.

Those players were automatic All-SCC players and Shay Mathews, Clarke, and Beau Leisure, Knoxville, were voted on to the team.

Fisher shot a 41-38—79 to earn his All-SCC honors. He was followed by Cooper Bradley, 43-41—84, Landen Simpson, 44-43—87, Garin Grinstead, 40-48—88, Grant Powers, 42-46—88 and Cael Schofield, 48-45—93.

Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont’s top scorer was Hayden McCrea, 48-45—93.
