Editor’s note: At press time the governor anounced a new list of COVID-19 guidelines that could affect the following list of Albia school district guidelines, including the number of fans that can be at events (two per player). Superintendent Crall is examining the new rules as this newspaper goes to print.

• Hosting an event

If an athlete is feeling ill or has symptoms, isolate person to our Sick Room; Offer a mask; Check their temperature; Screener of questions; Contact Parents; Contact Emergency Contacts; Visitors (Teams) responsible to scan their students prior to entering Albia school district buildings.

• On trips away

If a person is feeling ill or has symptoms: Isolate person- (District’s designated area); Offer a mask; Check their temperature; Screener of questions; Contact Parents; Contact Emergency Contacts; Ride home with coach in Burb; Ride home on bus-social distancing and mask.

In terms of practices

•  Basketball

Nobody in the gyms unsupervised; Masks will be worn at all times unless competing/scrimmaging; Maintain a daily schedule; Take attendance daily; Take Temperatures and record; Sanitize hands frequently; Sanitize basketballs; Sanitize gym after usage; Water bottles-use their own; Use individual towels; Wash practice clothes daily; Put ALL Equipment and supplies away.

• Wrestling

Nobody in MAC Center unsupervised; Masks will be worn at all times unless competing; Maintain a daily schedule; Take attendance daily and record; Take Temperatures and record; Sanitize hands frequently; Sanitize any equipment being used i.e. (bicycle, jump ropes etc.); Sanitize mats after practice; Water bottles-use their own; Wash practice clothes daily.

• Cheerleading

Nobody in MAC Center or practice facility unsupervised; Masks will be worn at all times; Maintain a daily schedule; Take attendance daily; Take Temperatures and record; Sanitize hands frequently; Sanitize mats after practice; Water bottles-use their own; Wash practice clothes daily.

• Dance

Nobody in Practice Facility unsupervised; Masks will be worn at all times; Maintain a daily schedule; Take attendance daily; Take Temperatures and record; Sanitize hands frequently; Sanitize mats after practice; Water bottles-use their own; Wash practice clothes daily

SCC Conference Rule - Masks are required to enter the venue and should be worn at all times.

A ticket voucher system will be in place for competitions. The following capacity levels have been set: A Gym - 400, B Gym - 100. Capacity for events will be 500 Maximum - 120 for visitors and 380 for home. It is the goal of the administration to utilize the A Gym as much as possible for competitions. Each Albia student (household) will be allotted four tickets and any extra tickets will be distributed amongst students.

There will be no Pep Band until further notice - the goal is to begin after Jan. 1. All varsity events will be livestreamed. The District reserves the right to change these parameters at any time based on school and community COVID data.
