While Albia wrestling Coach Dave Wenger was celebrating moving five of his current fold into the state tournament, two of his former greats, state champions Aiden Reeves at Iowa State and Carter Isley at UNI, were having tough days.

Reeves, in the ISU regular line-up for the first time this season at 126, lost a 12-4 decision to #4 Brandon Courtney of Arizona State in ISU’s 20-13 team loss. In ISU’s 23-17 heart-stopping win over UNI, Reeves fell to #16 Brody Teske of UNI by technical fall, 23-4.

Meanwhile, Isley, ranked #13 in the nation, lost a tough 4-0 decision to #15 Cohlton Schultz, Arizona State in UNI’s 24-10 team loss and then lost a 6-3 decision to #10 Gannon Gremmel of Iowa State. In seven meetings, Gremmel has defeated Isley five times.

An upset win by Isley could have let UNI tie ISU at 20-20, but the Cyclones prevailed 23-17.
