In a season of shockers, the Chariton wrestling team upset Knoxville in the final dual of the South Central Conference season, denying the Panthers an outright championship. Knoxville, with one loss, will tie Albia and Chariton, each with one loss, for the dual season championship. Albia beat Chariton by 45 points on Saturday at Pleasantville.

After Albia’s close loss to the Panthers, Coach Wenger said the loss placed Knoxville in the “driver’s seat” for the dual season title. He never said his injury and illness riddled team was out of the title picture.

Now the Blue Demons will have a chance to win the SCC tournament title this Friday in Albia. The Blue Demons finished a half point ahead of Knoxville at I-35. Wrestling begins at 5 p.m. in the A Gym.
